Brett Krohn - Music Director
North Suburban Concert Band
North Suburban Jazz Band Brett is a 30 year teaching veteran in the Minnesota public school system and the former director of the St. Cloud Municipal Band. Brett holds a Master of Music with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting, a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in K-12 Band, and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science.
He loves to teach and inspire the musicians in his ensembles. His passion for them and the music-making they pursue together is evident through an energetic, demonstrative, prepared, and engaging delivery. Brett received several awards in his teaching career including the Excellence in Educational Leadership award from both Robbinsdale and Monticello Public Schools. |
Brett retired from teaching in 2020 and is now the Tech & Creative Arts Associate Pastor at Riverside Church in Big Lake, MN.
Mr. Krohn's trumpet playing has taken him all over the world. Ensembles in which he has performed have traveled to 13 countries overseas and 44 states in the U.S. He is currently playing in his local church orchestra, subs in various ensembles around the Cities, and continues a long tenure of playing cornet and flugelhorn with the Lake Wobegon® Brass Band.
Mr. Krohn resides in Buffalo, MN with his wife and enjoys time spent with their 2 kids, their spouses and their grandsons.

Courtney Keenan-Young - Vocal Director
North Suburban Concert Choir
North Suburban Vocal Jazz Ensemble Courtney Keenan-Young is an accomplished singer, pianist and music director. She holds a BA in Piano Performance and Vocal Performance from St. Mary’s University. Courtney has sung with Vocal Essence, Minnesota Chorale and the Together in Hope Choir where she had unique opportunity to meet and sing for the Pope in Rome. She is the Director of Music at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, a frequent soloist and cantor at the Basilica of St. Mary and is also the collaborative artist for the STMA Choirs. In addition, Courtney enjoys teaching privately in her studio of 30 musicians of all ages. In her free time, she enjoys keeping up with her 3 kids activities, fostering rescue dogs, and traveling with her husband, Ben, who is also a musician and teacher.

Judy Blomgren - Pianist
North Suburban Concert Choir
Judy Blomgren received her Bachelor's in Music Education degree in 1976 from Mankato State University and her Master of Arts in Education from St. Catherine University in 2003. Judy’s teaching career was in the Anoka Hennepin School district at Northdale Junior High, Jackson Middle and Champlin Park High Schools. Judy was selected as one of the 20 “TOP” teachers in the Anoka Hennepin district in 2001. She was a finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the year in 2003. In 2009 the Champlin Park Orchestra was invited and performed at Carnegie Hall. She retired from Champlin Park in 2014. Judy is the Orchestra director at North Hennepin Community College. She has served as Organist at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in East Bethel since 2015.
